Faversham, Kent is known as the oldest market town in Kent. By 1800 the town was at the centre of the British gunpowder industry. Chart Gunpowder Mills, part of the earliest factories, is now one of the few fully restored and working gunpowder mills in Britain.

The town had established as a seaport by the middle ages with its connections to the North Sea. The latest figures estimate Faversham, Kent’s population to be around 20,000 people.
